Hiram’s Edge classes will be broadcast online the third Tuesday of every month, starting in September 2017. Classes begin at 7:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. For additional details, please go to our Registration page to submit your name and contact information. Our curriculum is as follows:
Module I: WordPress: Learn how to build a WordPress website, choose the correct theme, add pages and posts, incorporate Paypal links for dues payments and donations, and connect to social media to promote events. Next Class Date: 9/19/2017.
Module II: Social Media: Create and maintain social media pages, both public and private. Develop understanding of target audiences and appropriate messaging. Review Grand Lodge social media guidelines. Next Class Date: 10/17/2017.
Module III: Email Marketing: Introduction to Constant Contact. Instruction on how to build email lists, create newsletters, send public and private announcements, and design event invitations and landing pages. Next Class Date: 11/21/17.
Module IV: Event Planning: Events don’t just happen. They require a theme, a committee, workers, vendors, onsite promotional materials, and capture mechanisms to build email lists and membership. Next Class Date: 12/19/17.
Module V: Innovation: What makes your lodge unique? Learn about branding, value proposition, and incorporating those elements into communications and events. Introduction to Idea Books. Next Class Date: 1/16/18.
Module VI: Compliance: A review of modules I through V and a compliance check on all websites and social media sites created during the course. Dissemination and discussion of Grand Lodge compliance requirements. Next Class Date: 2/20/18.
Module VII: Promotion: A two part class focused on instruction in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) to create promotional materials and tracking systems. Vendor negotiation and utilization. How to use your blog and social media to promote public events. Next Class Dates: Part 1 – 3/20/18 / Part 2 – 4/17/18
